thing 16
I like the idea of Wiki with the obvious caveat that the information does need to be verified. I like the Princeton Library's summer reading page - definitely something we should consider along with various ongoing reader's advisory. I think this type of reader's advisory would be popular with patrons. I also like the idea of pathfinders; many patrons want to feel self-sufficent and this would give them a place to begin their library journey. Mayn years ago when I was a reference librarian at Xavier University I found that the students really liked the pathfinder as their starting point.

thing 15
I think for us at Cascades the biggest obstacle is the physical layout and equipment. Most of us at the reference desk use and have been using many of the components of Web 2.0 either at the library or in our private life. Some of us try to help the users take advantage of the Web offerings the library has whether it is in the form for example, of databases, online catalog, or the downloadable products. I am a user of the Overdrive audiobooks and recently upgraded to a 2 gig MP3 player just for the audiobooks. But I have found that some users aren't patient enough to wait through the clicks to get to the material we offer or find that having to use the PCs which ar in the middle of the traffic flow just too frustrating. So they don't.

I didn't find this at all helpful. At least for the the things I surf the 'net for technorati is not very useful.

del.ico.us is mildly interesting. I guess I don't "live" on the 'net enough to have a lot of use for this. I looked at several different topics and some of the comments were interesting but some of the tags seems to be a bit of a stretch.

I must be missing something but this has no value for my personal use. It was eay to set up but I don't think I'll have much use for it.

thing 11
I don't think I'd used this for my personal collection but it was interesting to see the rating and shared feature for each book.

Thing 10 - Penguin Display
I tried my hand at a quick "magazine cover". It was easy to do. I can see how this tool could be very useful for scrapbooking, dressing up a report, those year-end family newsletters, etc.
I did a very basic design but with little editing it could be made as "commercial" as one wishes.
